Veneers
Veneers are thin porcelain restorations intended to cover anterior teeth to give a cosmetic look. As with the crowns and bridges these have the advantage of covering up defects and unwanted shades in natural teeth giving you a bright and beautiful smile. With time teeth tend to chip, crack and small fractures can occur, compromising function and smile.

Cases that would qualify for veneers may include:
- Chipped/fractured teeth.
- Birth defects
- Irregularity in shape, form.
- Permanent stains due to medicines or illness and more
- Color incongruence due to canal treatments
Time table for porcelain veneers:
Normally it will take 1 to 2 visits of just 2.5 hours to complete the treatment, as it all depends on the extent and complexity of the treatment plan.
As with all dental treatments, during the first visit a medical history chart is created and evaluated, then the dental examination is performed, and X-rays are taken. A treatment plan is set out and discussed with the patient. Once it is approved the treatment is started.
During the first reconstructive appointment, different measures may be taken. If the patient would like dental whitening before the veneers, then that is done first. Afterwards, frontal teeth are prepared and temporaries placed. At Colina Dental Clinic, we work with state of the art instruments that allow us to provide unique approaches to cosmetic dentistry, and in a less amount of time. In most cases, instead of taking traditional impressions, we instead use our Cad-Cam system, (Computer Aided Design – Computer Aided Manufacture), and you can receive all you dental work designed and milled within one visit.
In other cases, between the first examination and second appointment, the patient usually has 1 or 2 days off so he/she can go sightseeing and get to know a little bit more about Costa Rica.
During the second appointment, where the veneers have to be specially created, everything is then adjusted and fitted, placed and cemented to the tooth.
To recover your smile is what many people have decided to do, to feel more comfortable with themselves and others. For more information, please contact our Colina Dental staff, and they will be more than ready to discuss your case and advise you on the best way possible to proceed.
