Prosthetic Dentistry

Prosthetic dentistry includes procedures that replace damaged and/or missing teeth in order for the mouth to function properly. Our work in prosthetic dentistry includes:

Inlays/ Onlays

Inlays and onlays are used to repair damage to the tooth's surface. They can be made from porcelain, gold, or composite or ceramic resin. The most common material used is porcelain because of its strength and potential to match the natural color of the tooth. An inlay is similar to a filling and lies inside the cusp tips of the tooth. It is custom-made to fit the prepared cavity and then cemented into place. An onlay is a more extensive reconstruction that covers one or more cusps of a tooth.

Dental Crowns

Grinding your teeth, an improper bite, age, fillings and tooth decay are all contributing factors in the erosion, cracking or breakage of your teeth. If the entire surface of the tooth is damaged, but the root system has remained intact, your dentist will usually suggest that a dental crown be put in place.

Dental crowns can replace missing teeth entirely using a bridge to secure proper fitting. Single tooth dental implants may also be recommended in order to eliminate the need for a bridge.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin, individually handcrafted pieces of porcelain or plastic that can be attached to your teeth in order to change their shape, color or alignment, leaving you with a more pleasant and shining smile.

Removable Dentures
